The courtyard scheme.
Following on from our collaboration with an up-and-coming Real Estate agent and his Architect, AMD were asked to produce a landscape concept for a small office development that was made up of 4 No, 2 storey units, all of which had central courtyard areas.
This was a challenging scheme as it is on the edge of town, near a large residential suburb and brings with it all the planning issues normally surrounding such projects. With very careful design considerations and local research the project has been submitted.
The design is to include areas of shade, to be able to stroll and to sit and to hold outdoor meetings. A number of different seating areas were created to allow individuals to have an element of privacy as well as the ability to socialise and enjoy the outdoor space. A small water feature was added to reflect the sky and to allow fish to swim freely. Access from the main reception and various other doors allow the staff members to come and go with ease.
There are second floor terraces with access from the offices that were also key to the overall concept. As the courtyard would be viewed from above, it was imperative that the natural flow of the paths is aesthetically pleasing as well as functional.
